Here's the story

The host, Emily, reading a book in a bookstore with red headphones and a purple wig on
Hey there! It's me, your host and creator, Emily.

Born and raised in the great state of Kentucky, I’ve been singing and storytelling for as long as I can remember!

There’s nothing in this world quite as magical or meaningful as the unique instrument of the human voice.

I started making audiobooks in high school and later managed a top voiceover studio in NYC, learning how to wear every hat in the industry and creating award-winning audio with some of the best in the business.

My love of the spoken word has only grown from there!

But no matter where I live or how far I roam, in my heart Kentucky is always home…

What do I love most about audiobooks? The PEOPLE.

As one of the fastest growing fields in entertainment, the audiobook industry’s become a Wild West boomtown of new and fascinating folks from every walk of life. Audiobooks are changing the face of storytelling!

During the pandemic, quarantines forced recording out of the major-market metropolises and into home studios coast to coast. For the first time, narrators could follow our hearts to live and work in the hometowns we love.

And I wondered, how might these places that shape us also shape the stories we tell?

The idea of The Nomad Narrator began to form.

I converted an empty cargo van into a mobile recording studio to travel the country and meet other narrators, hoping to explore our creative practices and build community together.
